LibreChat to Onyx migrator

done · 2025–2026

Moves chat history from LibreChat to Onyx. Codex and Claude wrote it. I wrote the job description.

We moved the company chat from LibreChat to Onyx, and people wanted their old conversations. I didn’t write the code. Codex and Claude did. My contribution was an AGENTS.md of 136 lines, mostly telling the agents how to file and close their own tickets in beads. Management, basically.

It creates the missing accounts, copies everyone’s chats across and brings the attachments. The hard bit: LibreChat lets a conversation branch and Onyx doesn’t. You either skip the branched chats or import every branch as a chat of its own.

22 commits, five weeks, MIT licence, declared feature complete in the README. Ten months later we left Onyx. It’s now a very good tool for a migration we won’t be doing again.
